Unprofessional Treatment, Data Security Violation, and Refusal of Valid Entertainer Offer at African + Eastern Villanova I had an unacceptable experience at the African + Eastern Villanova branch. When I attempted to use a valid offer on The Entertainer app, the staff member identifying himself as the manager, Ruben, demanded that I hand over my unlocked personal phone to him so he could enter a 4-digit PIN. When I declined to surrender custody of my personal device due to critical data privacy and security concerns—explaining that staff should input their merchant PIN while I hold my own phone—Ruben aggressively stated that it was a "secret code" and told me, "I can’t sell if you can’t let me touch your phone," effectively chasing me out of the store. This kind of behavior is entirely unprofessional and unacceptable. Demanding physical access to a customer's personal, unlocked device violates basic digital privacy boundaries. Furthermore, as a licensed retailer operating under the jurisdiction of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), treating customers with hostility, refusing valid platform promotions arbitrarily, and forcing consumers away constitutes a breach of the standards of fair trade, consumer rights, and professional conduct mandated in Dubai. I am formally expressing my deep disappointment over this mistreatment. I expect a formal apology from both Ruben and the management of African + Eastern, as well as a clarification of their staff training regarding customer service and device handling policies.
